Leigh Walter's Bio
Leigh Walter is a freelance director and stage manager based out of New York City. She was born and raised in the woods of Nebraska and received her B.F.A. in Directing at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Since moving to New York, she has been fortunate enough to work at incredible places such as Lincoln Center, The Park Avenue Armory, Goodspeed Musicals, La MaMa, and New York Theatre Workshop. She has been a proud member of the SDCF Directing Observership Class and is currently a company member of Trusty Sidekick. Leigh is also a Co-Founder/Creative Director for a new theatre project called The Society for Misfit Puppets, where she directed seven puppet folk musicals and variety shows in 2016, shows that are continuing to be developed and workshopped currently. Her work has ranged from non-linear abstract new work, to immersive children's theater, to big musicals and straight plays. She pursues theatre that is imaginative in spirit, tongue-in-cheek, magical, gruesome, smart, poetic, that creates big theatrical moments in small ways, and/or anything else that she happens to find exciting or inspiring.
